From The Hermès Spring-Summer 2022 Le Monde d'Hermès Magazine: The theme of the year for 2022 was "Lightness" and at the beginning at the SS22 Le Monde d'Hermès magazine, we can see this intro below, which perfectly explains the release of "Lumiere" by Hermès Studio to support the theme of the year.
"Keeping it light. To catch in mid-flight the passing presence of some je ne sais quoi, or the wingbeat of some feathery notion, is to feel the physical and poetic or even pneumatic dimension of lightness. A simple breeze, a perfume wafting on a street corner, and suddenly we are lifted clear of life's earthly and existential gravity. Where does it come from, this impression that we are not quite touching the ground, this feeling of wellbeing, of euphoria, of headiness? A word, a smile, an object, a garment, a work of art, a memory, a promise can all bring it on. At Hermes, lightness is much more than the theme we have chosen for 2022; it is more like a mission, for we have always sought to lighten the lives of those who enter our stores. In fact, this concern with lightness goes back to the origins of the house: the harnesses conceived by Thierry Hermes in the mid-19th century rejected all useless ornaments the better to free the movements of the horse. - Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
