From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2021/22 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: In Thailand, where it proliferates, water hyacinth is collected and dried in the sun before being woven into all kinds of objects such as baskets, hats, sandals or toys in the shape of animals. The masan, literally "woven horse" in Thai. is one of them. The artist Terawat Teankaprasith, one of the six winners of the Grand Prix du Carre Hermes launched in 2019, drew inspiration from this ancestral know-how to create a dazzling and stately face-to-face encounter.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
