From The Herm ès Spring-Summer 2016 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Originally from So Paulo, the illustrator Filipe Jardim has created his first scarf for Hermes: Modernisme tropical. Here is a Brazil that is both imagined and real, defined by striking modernist architecture. In this exuberant design, the rounded contours of Brasilia, the capital city founded in 1960, mingle with the angular and pared-down forms of the Paulista School, an architectural movement founded in the 1950s in São Paulo. Brazil is also the land of the Mata Atlântica tropical Atlantic Forest, whose banana, aloe vera and alocasia leaves find a way into this captivating and unusual portrait.

From The Hermès Website: The first carre from Rio de Janeiro-born artist Filipe Jardim captures 'his' Brazil - a Brazil of the imagination and reality, too, with its distinctive, resolutely modernist architectural landscape. The richly-detailed, vibrant composition superimposes the curves of Brasilia (the new capital, inaugurated in 1960) and the strict, angular forms of the Paulista school, a grouping of architects from the city of Sao Paolo. But Brazil is a jungle nation, too - the mata atlantica is the country's Atlantic tropical forest. Banana, aloe vera, and alocasia leaves are entwined in this astonishing, seductive portrait. Don't miss it, very decorative.
