From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2012/13 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: A same of mazes, a maze of fun? The ex-libris of Emile Hermès, symbol of the house for several decades, turns into a game of patience. One simply has to put the small, gleaming steel balls back in their boxes, though the path is strewn with pitfalls. The minutes pass without our knowledge and victory slips away... This composition is certainly not without humour. but it is also a pretty meta phor. For is the maze not the very image of this path taken step by step towards knowledge? The thought and time that all perfect objects require, and that the mastery of a skill involves... repetitions, hesitations, steps backward and jumps forward...
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
