From The Hermès Spring-Summer 1996 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Buddhist pilgrims armed with prayer wheels (visible at the four corners of the scarf) walk around a stupa, the sacred monument which houses holy relics and whose complex architecture, dominated by the hemisphere, symbolises the Elements. Up there in the clouds eagles also circle, gliding above the peaks, which point like Truth towards Heaven, and above the monasteries, from which emanates the quiet murmuring of meditation and asceticism.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
