Why I Love This Pattern: In 18th and 19th century in Iran, the qalamdan, or pen box, was a prestigious item, reflecting the flourishing art of lacquered objects. Baschet recreated a series of these ornate pen boxes and in this case in beautiful yellows and magentas.
