From The Hermès Spring-Summer 2017 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Among the many books preserved in the mile Hermès collection are the albums of Camille et fils, a Parisian saddler based in the lOth arrondissement. A plate dating from 1895 illustrating a selection of girths caught the attention of Virginie Jamin, who was attracted by the restrained beauty of the drawing. The designer, a specialist in geometric compositions, gave free rein to her imagination, deploying the girth motif in a playful zigzag pattern. In an elegant and fascinating dance, the girths mirror each other as they criss-cross or zigzag in a harmonious mix of lines, checks and coloured weaves.

- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
