From The Hermès Fall-Winter 1998/99 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: This tree may stand modestly, but still it reigns by virtue of its size and its biblical longevity, and we like it even more for doming the Lebanese flag. A witness to legendary epochs, it has provided the ecumenical wood from which temples, mosques and the great Phoenician ships were constructed. Here, bordered by Byzantine mosaics, it invites us to partake of a shade, which lends itself to meditation upon the sacred mysteries.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
