From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2010/11 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The story of this carre is that of a meeting. During the course of one of his journeys, Pierre Alexis Dumas, the artistic director of Hermès, discovered the work of the Chinese artist Ding Yi and, full of admiration, invited him to Paris. The artist, on his return to China, sent him this picture, which is a carré...The vibration of a city is what is evoked by this painting. The apparent simplicity of these alignments of little coloured stars recalls, in turn, the verticality of the sky-scrapers, the gleaming of the lights or the intensity of the traffic, which knows no respite. The soul of modern China is revealed here in an abstract, whose rhythm captures the gaze and whose colours awaken each other in a vital and uninterrupted shimmering.

- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
