From The Hermès Spring-Summer 2020 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: It was during a trip to South Africa that Alice Shirley was lucky enough to spot a giraffe, then two, then three, concealed behind the acacia tree on which they were feeding. Giraffes are the tallest animals on earth and their delicacy is immeasurable. Their movement is sweeping and elegant. They have panoramic distance vision and sleep very little, often standing.They prune the trees by feeding, and disperse seeds by moving around, living in perfect harmony with their environment. Conscious of the beauty and balance of nature, the house of Hermes pays homage to these graceful and poetic giants.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
