From The Hermès Spring-Summer 2016 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The illustrator Alice Shirley pays tribute to the planet's largest coral reef - the Great Barrier Reef - located off the coast of Queensland in Australia. A UNESCO World Heritage site, this living structure is home to an array of fascinating fauna. Amongst the natural coral sculptures of the reef teem a multitude of marine creatures in an endless ballet of form and colour. A hawksbill turtle swims towards Milman Islet, a small island north of Queensland, to lay its eggs, a leafy seadragon hides amongst the seaweed, and a mandarinfish bustles about in search for plankton. The fragile balance of this ecosystem relies upon the existence of each of these creatures.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
