From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2012/13 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Antoine Trappf, passionate about Native American culture, presents a new portrait here. It is the middle of the 18th century. This is the face of a proud Northeast Prairie Indian woman. She belongs to the Osages tribe. Honoured here is the universe (Ni) of women (Wa'Ko). Everything surrounding her reflects the beliefs and know-how ofher people. The painted skins and hairstyle decorated with dyed porcupine quills are the work of women. Thunderbirds and water panthers watch over the corners of the composition. The former are the masters of the skies, rains and thunderstorms; the latter, creatures of the underwater and underground world, bring about storms and earthquakes.
