From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2003/04 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Framed with motifs drawn from the carpets of nomadic tribes, who settled in the 15th century in Persia, near Shiraz, here are other nomads, migratory birds from the seas and marshes: the teal, mallard, sheldrake, barnacle-goose, heron, stork, ibis and their cousins. To the rhythm of the seasons, they follow or cross each other, alone or in groups, setting off from afar, not always arriving, landing here or there, then resuming their travels, taking with them our dreams of paradisial climates. As they take off the sky swarms. And once more the universe seethes.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
