From The Hermès Fall-Winter 1987-1988 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The "petite main" mythical figure of the turn-of-the-century novel has assembled here all that the apprentice seamstress might need: braided threads of all colors, spools in mother-of-pearl and ivory, pin cushions in oak, cedar and pewter, thimble cases and an assortment of buttons. At the four corners of the scarf are chatelaines, chains attached to the belt and from which the seamstress hung the things she used most often: scissors, thimbles, etc.
